Rock Candy 110 frame
There was never any question in our minds that full-suspension fatbikes were going to be an important thing in the future of Salted Bikes.
So just over three years ago, we started working with a leading designer at UDG in Taiwan designing our dream dual suspension fatbike. The only forks available back then were custom modified Leftys. But we believed in the concept enough that we pushed ahead, knowing that eventually... others would see the light and a fat suspension fork would be released.
Rockshox' release of their Bluto fork answered our prayers.
The Rock Candy is made from our very own custom drawn, double butted, 7005 alloy Dropbear tubing. It's heat treated after welding and alignment to ensure strength.
We've selected the components for our complete build with performance and reliability in mind. You'll note that we spec brand name components at every step. No "house brand" parts compromising your riding experiance here.
Salted Bikes Rock Candy - long lasting fun.
The specs shown on the pics above may vary slightly from the spec options listed below. (below is correct)
Make no mistake, this isn't your grandad's XC racer bike. We built the Rock Candy to be ridden and ridden hard.
The Rock Candy is made from our very own custom drawn, double butted, 7005 alloy Dropbear tubing. It's heat treated after welding and alignment to ensure strength. The rocker and swingarm are 6061-T6. Designed to handle the harshest conditions and not miss a beat.
From a suspension point of view, we didn't want to re-invent the wheel (so to speak) so we stuck with the proven, tried and true 4 bar linkage design. It isolates braking and peddling influences from the suspension and guarantees you more smiles per mile.
A bike like this, designed to be ridden hard just wouldn't be right with a flexy QR at the rear. So we fitted the Rock Candy out with a 177/12 thru axle to tie the back end together.
Geometry wise, we wanted the Rock Candy to be an absolute blast to ride. After much testing, well, it turns out we were right. We've set the geometry perfectly between ride all day and party.
We've spec'd the frame with a custom tuned Cane Creek DB AIR [IL] rear shock. (pre-set with the optimum base tune)
With 110mm travel in the rear, the Rock Candy is perfectly balanced with a 120mm Bluto up front.
